Marine Ropes stocks braided ropes from heavy-duty 8-strand and 12-strand constructions down to small-diameter utility braids. Braided rope offers a round, torque-free profile with superior handling characteristics compared to twisted rope.

Products in This Range

8-Strand Nylon

8-Strand Nylon — Heavy-duty braided nylon. Low torque. Diameters: 12-120mm. Break loads: 3,000 kg (12mm) to 235,800 kg (120mm). Same elasticity as 3-strand (35%). Applications: heavy mooring, towing hawsers.

12-Strand Nylon

12-Strand Nylon — Finer, smoother braid. ~10% higher break loads than 8-strand at same diameter. Diameters: 8-56mm. Superior handling in mid-range sizes.

8-Strand Polysteel

8-Strand Polysteel — Heavy-duty floating braid. Diameters: 32-100mm. Break loads: 17,500 kg (32mm) to 144,600 kg (100mm). Applications: large vessel mooring, commercial fishing.

12-Strand Polysteel

12-Strand Polysteel — Fine, smooth floating braid. Diameters: 18-60mm. Same strength as 8-strand at equivalent diameters but superior handling and flexibility.

Polyester Round Braid

Polyester Round Braid — Small diameter utility braid. Diameters: 1-24mm. Sold by weight (1kg-20kg reels). Rigid round profile. Applications: flag halyards, utility cord, draw cords.

Polyethylene Round Braid

Polyethylene Round Braid — HDPE monofilament braid. Floats. Diameters: 2.5-6mm (200m reels). Applications: draw cords, tie-downs, utility.

HDPE Hollow Braid

HDPE Hollow Braid — Flat profile when unloaded. Diameters: 5-18mm (100m reels). Floats. Easy to splice (hollow core). Applications: water sports towing, rescue throw lines.
